2024 Fall Valorant Split Preview

A brief overview of the 2024 Valorant Fall Split! Schedule, prize pool, and why the SEC!

As a new semester of classes begins, so does a new Southern Esports Conference Valorant split! While we had a quick layover from this year's Summer Solstice tourney, where Oklahoma State took home the hardware, it's time to find a new champion. Needless to say, there is a lot to get into as the Valorant season starts up again. This season we’ve expanded to 12 teams with two divisions, Lux and Nox. The top three seeds of each qualify into the double-elimination playoff bracket. In the Lux division: Kentucky (UK), Western Kentucky (WKU), Mississippi State (MSU), Oklahoma State (OSU), Tennessee (UTK), and Central Florida (UCF) make up the field. Over in the Nox: Clemson (UC), North Carolina State (NCSU), Louisiana State (LSU), Texas Tech (TTU), Texas (UT), and Auburn (AU) fill the slots. Each program plays a total of six games across six weeks for a chance at a playoff spot and cash prizes for the victors. As a reminder of how last year ended, Texas took down Oklahoma 3-2 in the Spring finals and OSU won the summer solstice event. With many new programs in the league this year it should create exciting matchups and rivalries that build upon past iterations of the conference's lineups.

The teams and players are excited to get going, including North Carolina State’s Fruba.

We thought [the SEC] would be a good way to find and play skilled opponents in a tournament that we haven't participated in before. I think it will help us identify our strengths and weaknesses as well as give us opportunities to learn and experiment with new strategies and improve teamwork

- NCSU Fruba

Fruba said when asked about their school's decision to join the SEC this split. It's a long season with plenty of time to get better and to try new comps from every team. The beauty of Valorant allows teams to push for more creative approaches with greater rewards. Not only are the teams able to get better but also able to win a decent payout for the top teams with a $500 prize pool for both fall and spring splits plus another $1400 for the championship split coming in April. More teams, more prizes, and more Valorant overall this season in the SEC.
